At the SVA Masters Typography Workshop in Italy, I was fascinated by the hand-lettered signage all around Venice. For my week-long project headed by Louise Fili, I decided to study these signs and adapt them into Arabic to create a guidebook about places to eat in Venice.
I used the transliterations of the words instead of the translations to transform the type into a visual form and not a legible one and hand-drew the arabic letters based on the original latin ones.
