Client: Immersimap™ immersive building mapping solutions
Industry: Emergency service, emergency management
Assistance Provided: New Product Development
Objective: Development of a backpack containing proprietary technology for smooth 360 degree panoramic video mapping of building interiors. Immersimap's technology saves minutes and lives for emergency responders, and saves time and money for pre-planning, training, and asset management applications.
Assisted faculty advisor in charge of the Senior Capstone course in mechanical engineering at Bucknell University with leading a four-member student design team assigned the task of developing a prototype backpack for Immersimap™. Over a nine month period I provided guidance with patent searching, concept development, engineering analysis, product dissection, 3D CAD modeling, and simulation. Deliverables included conceptual exploration, design report, component specifications, CAD drawings, and the fabrication of a functional prototype, with a total of over 1,500 hours of engineering consultation provided. Immersimap™ sold the first commercial video mapping system retailing for $135,000 in late 2008.
"Working with the SBDC has been extremely valuable for a small business with limited resources, especially limited R&D dollars. Being ableto set up this project with Bucknell's Engineering Development Services will help get us to market faster and has been a tremendous help."
