The main aim of the project was to bring the existing remainings of a 600 years old castle back to life, give them a new function, but at the same time to respect every historical aspect of the site. The casle has been in a state of ruin for 200 years, so there are only a few documents showing its original form.
The orignal walls should remain untouched, but, on the other hand,  the new construction should somehow give a clue about an original, poorly documented silhouette of the castle. Honesty was a very important factor. Any attempts to imitate the original form of an object would transform this structure into a part of a strange stage design.
That is why the new main structure was designed as sets of steel frames which, in general, show possible form of the castle, but still remain not too precise about it. The frames support paths which go up around the walls leading to a white box - a digital library. Under the box there is an additional area for exhibitions. The main courtyard could be used as an expansion of the exhibition area, or as an open-air theater.
