Why tho

This is just a little work from school. Task was to choose a typeface that you liked, found interesting or on the contrary purely ugly and make a type specimen for it.

When I found this typeface I liked how different it was yet beautiful and legible. I was really amazed by the Italic type style, it's fun and contrasting look compared to the other styles, something I wasn't expecting.

When making the type specimen I got inspiration from Italic style and added a goofy cowboy made out of keyboard symbols, something you wouldn't expect to see in a type specimen. Regarding colors I kept it simple using dark grey, light grey and electric blue, with blue guiding the viewer's eyes.

Syne is a 5-style type family originally designed in 2017 for the art center Synesthésie, based in
Saint-Denis in the very close suburb of Paris, France. Used across their identity, print and screen, Syne has been released under open-source license in June 2018.

Syne was imagined by Bonjour Monde and designed by Lucas Descroix with help from
Arman Mohtadji. The Mono style was distorted using Bonjour Monde’s DataFace, written by Arman Mohtadji. The Syne family is available with a SIL Open Font License.
