Erin O’Brien uses found objects and raw materials often found in nature and home improvement stores to create assemblage installations and sculptures that reference her interests in nature, ecosystems, constructed environments, and biology. She considers her assemblages to be 2 ½ dimensional drawings and allows her love for drawing as a studio practice to guide and inform her work. The observations she has made living in rural, suburban, and urban environments have inspired her interest in the relationship between the natural and the synthetic, prompting her to question the dualities she sees in our constructed existence.

Based in Philadelphia, PA, Erin is a BFA candidate at Moore College of Art & Design. She has recently exhibited work in several group shows throughout Philadelphia; Merge, at Moore College of Art & Design, the Alumni show at Montgomery County Community College, and Art at The Center at the Comcast Center. She also has work in Montgomery County Community College’s permanent collection.

Erin is the recipient of several honors and awards, include The Harriet Glashofer Jolles Memorial Prize in Fine Art, the Business Scholars of the Arts Scholarship, and the Moore College Board of Trustees Scholarship.
