Technology is only as useful as it is usable. We all carry around incredible computing power in our pockets, but on their own, the potent algorithms packed into our phones and computers as helpless a Roomba on a greased linoleum floor. That's where I come in.

As a UX designer, I mold technology into shapes that fit the humans using it. I find the needs and expectations of users and other stakeholders, learn the capabilities and limitations of the technology at hand, and bridge the gap between them.

My goal is to create interfaces that users can operate intuitively, so that brand and content shine and the mechanisms to get at them blend seamlessly into the background. I make the How so obvious that focus stays firmly on the Why.

I have experience at companies both small and large. I can manage projects, set expectations, head off dependencies, and defend my designs. I can polish pixel perfect design deliverables or get down and dirty with developers. If you want my help, just drop me a line. Read Less

My core skills are in information architecture and UX design. I'm at my best when I'm breaking down complex problems into user needs, platform limitations, and desired functionality, and creating structures that weave them all together into one cohesive solution.

I also have the abilities necessary to lead and coordinate a design project. I can do the work necessary both before and after the design process to ensure success:

• Work with clients and stakeholders to determine and prioritize project requirements
• Manage projects, spotting dependencies from afar and resolve them before they become bottlenecks
• Perform user research to understand user needs and expectations

• Cut assets and apply visual design themes across an entire design
• Create standalone documentation that expresses design intent
• Work with developers to implement designs with pixel perfect accuracy

Thanks to my mechanical engineering degree from Cal, I'm familiar with physics, higher math, and 3D modeling and printing techniques. My experience in UVA's Semester at Sea Human-Computer Interaction program and Berkeley's School of Information graduate courses taught me much about user needs and thought processes. Read Less
