Abigail Hines

Multi-Disciplinary Designer and Brand Builder

Central District, Hong Kong
I am a creative problem solver who strives to constantly grow in my skills as a graphic designer as well as be an asset to those with whom I collaborate. Each project I approach in a new way, and tailor it to fit the appropriate parameters so that the result is both innovative and unique. I love to be pushed out of my comfort zone and challenged because those are the situations in which I really am forced to grow.I'm self-motivated, determined, and I understand and implement effective methods of communication, but on top of that I love design. Great design can only result from great passion—not just hard work— and that's why I'm in this field.

I completed my degree in graphic design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong. I began my career as the graphic designer at Black Sheep Restaurants, and later refocused my occupational goals to form my own freelance consultancy. This path has allowed me to grow more in multiple graphic design disciplines, as well as increased my networking skills. I recently relocated to Chicago after 6 years of living in Hong Kong and am looking to expand my clientele in the US.

Black Sheep Restaurants

Graphic Designer

Black Sheep Restaurants is a hospitality and service company with 7 different restaurants in Hong Kong, all offering a different cuisine and each with a unique brand and atmosphere.

At Black Sheep, I was responsible for creating menus, advertisements, and other promotional materials. I am also in charge of designing and creating the chalkboard menus that are on display in each restaurant. I take part in social media postings and upkeep on Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. During my time with this company, I had the opportunity to brand their 9th outlet— Stazione Novella, an Italian cafe in the heart of SoHo.

Through this position, I gained exposure to both new and classic forms of graphic design, which allowed me to become more well-rounded as a designer.
