From the worn vinyl seat of a 23-foot wiener to the slightly reclined office chair where I now reside, it has been an interesting journey.

After graduating college, I landed a prestigious position in public relations for the processed meat paragon Oscar Mayer. Yep. I drove the Wienermobile.

From there I traveled to Detroit to start my “Jack of all trades, Master of none” career of copywriting. DMB&B was one of the world’s biggest agencies and I gained some valuable experience, but after a year, I pined for home and headed back to Kansas City.

Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of accounts from automobiles to airlines, plastics to pet food, animal health to human health, financial investment to banking and more. I’ve even earned a few awards along the way, but the best recognition I ever received was a kiss on the forehead from a client for coming up with the tagline, “Plastics make it possible.”

Most importantly, I have learned that you have to give respect to get respect, everything you do or don't do reflects upon you, and no matter how brilliant the creative is, it doesn't mean squat if it doesn't move the client's product or get customers in the door. Read Less
