About Dominika Juraszek
Dominika Juraszek is fascinated by the surreal. Her love for the arts flourished at LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. She received her bachelors degree at Rhode Island School of Design and her masters degree at California Institute of the Arts. She studied under artists such as Yvonne Andersen, Kathe Burkhart, Jules Engel, Suzan Pitt, Michael Scroggins, Betzy Bromberg, Kevin Geiger, Marcin Gizynski, and Agnieszka Taborska. During her graduate studies, she taught art, animation, and filmmaking to elementary and high school students at Inner City Arts under the direction of Professor Leo Hobaica.
She was introduced to interactive music by renowned "lady glove controller," Laetitia Sonami, and began exploring interactive possibilities in California. Her pressure sensor installations were displayed at the Main Gallery. Her films were screened at The REDCAT Theater and Lincoln Center and several film festivals in the US. Dominika performed numerous music shows in LA. She directed a music video for the Providence Phoenix Best Vocalist winner, Becky Chace Band, and worked as an assistant director to filmmaker Robert Lyons at Liberty Studios.
In 2002 Dominika received an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Grant and Kosciuszko Foundation Grant. Currently, she is teaching web, graphic design, and 3D animation while continuing her own independent film and music projects. Ms. Juraszek is the Multimedia Coordinator at Bramson ORT College. She is also a freelance photographer and videographer creating videos on holistic medicine and natural healing for the A.R.E. The videos have aired on MNN Cable TV. Read Less
