Tina Melo, principal and founder of the Melo Trend Service has extensive international experience in the design world. A native of Rhode Island, she studied at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, and launched her career in 1986 as a Designer for Liz Claiborne, Bernard Chaus, Bonaventure Textiles, De Rothchild, Nilani, and Stedor Enterprise and very shortly became the head Design and Merchandiser of the knitwear, sweaters, and woven Design Departments. Throughout her entire career she gained extensive experience traveling Europe, Asia, and the United States. She organized fashion shows and events at some of the most important Trade Fairs such as Magic in Las Vegas, and major European fashion cities, around the world by attending the most important trade fairs in Europe such as INTERJEAN, Premier Vision, ISPO, Golf Europe, Pret a Porter, INTERSTOFF, and LINEAPELLE. After landing herself in Munich, Germany and the center of European market she carved out a niche as a Fashion Trend and Life Style Analyst for 90% of the US Apparel, Accessories & Textile Industry. Creating Trend Textile Reports that catered to the European Textile Industry and also creating personalized Trend, Color, & Textile Reports for US clients. Tina worked closely with each individual Designer, Design & Art Director, Production and Sourcing Director from Polo Sport, Victoria’s Secret, Converse, Levis, Liz Claiborne, and Lane Bryant. The Melo Reports became a one-stop shop for Fashion and design forecasting, for those that demanded “up to the minute” trend information. The demand for these reports tripled by 1996 and so Sharon Gray (Fashion Ikon) became Tina's rep offering this international trend guide, color forecasting and fashion information to the New York and American markets, as a valuable tool for virtually anyone in the creative fashion and retail fields. Tina’s sons were born along the way and eventually the Melo Company was sold. Read Less
