From Graphic Design to Photography
During my childhood, I've always appreciated art and enjoyed painting and drawing. It was this basic fundamental to shape a line into form that had paved the way to a career in Graphic Design. I was blessed to attend Carnegie Mellon University's Design program after my junior year in high school. Within the 2 month study, I had first experienced Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and working hands on with 35mm film photography. This was the first time I had purchased my very own 35mm manual camera. Prior to taking a photography course, I've never imagined that a photograph would be considered an artistic expression until I started framing shots on black and white film. To dismiss color altogether allowed me to analyze tones, shapes and negative space. At this point, I understood the delicate balance between light and dark.

For 15 years, I decided to pursue my artistic journey by enrolling into The Art Institute of Pittsburgh's Graphic Design program and ultimately placing myself into the graphic world. In 2012, I came across some old prints that I've made from the summer program and began looking to rekindle that satisfaction of taking a photograph. I bought a Canon T3i which was an entry level DSLR at the time, yet was light years ahead of the old Vivitar 35mm film camera that I remember using a decade and a half ago. Though there was a new learning curve, I was simply overjoyed with excitement to make some photographs. I ate and breathed photography everyday and I continue to do so today. I began following the Jeremy Cowarts, the Zack Ariases and the Chase Jarvises of the photography world. I found inspiration everyday on Abduzeedo and YouTube channels. This was my new passion and even to this day it will remain as my strongest passion.

Why I Love Photography
It is said that art can move people, design can communicate with people and a photograph can say 1,000 words. To me, photography is a visual journal of my life as an artist. Whether I take my full gear or whip out the handy iPhone, I'm always ready to shoot anything and everything that interests me. Before I always had a camera on me, things in this world seemed to be boring and unappealing. Now it seems as if the once ordinary can become extraordinary through a well composed photograph.
