New York based photojournalist Dan Callister has captured America’s biggest news stories for leading publications around the world.

Dan, from Ruthin, North Wales, has won wide acclaim for his graphic images of the life and sometimes turbulent times of the world’s premier super-power.

Assignments have ranged from the harrowing Sept 11 attacks; the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Washington snipers and the horrors of the Virginia Tech Massacre to the dog-riding monkey that became a rodeo sensation.

Eventful years in the United States have also included a lucky escape from an ultralight plane crash in the rattlesnake infested Mojave desert; ribs fractured - care of an LA riot policeman, gun threats, tear gassing and a narrow escape from an irate Hell’s Angels Chapter.

Dan’s first front page picture in a local evening paper - was taken at age fourteen and countless successors during the ensuing years have included many of the world’s showbiz and sporting glitterati.

Based in Manhattan, he regularly undertakes special commissions worldwide.

Recently these have included photographing seal - hunting white sharks off the coast of South Africa and underwater work in the Atlantic, Sea of Cortez, Caribbean, the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. Read Less
