People ask, where do you get your ideas...well right here, in my studio workshop. Each day I bring flat sketches to life as 3 dimensional puppet characters. Sometimes after two or three weeks of working on just one puppet it's difficult to let the puppet go, but I know their new owner is anxiously awaiting that brown box to arrive on their doorstep, and that fills all the voids of shipping these foam-based personalities out. I'm Mike, the guy who builds these puppet creatures, and I am happy to be of service for all your professional puppetry needs!

My interest began close to 30 years ago intrigued by TV shows such as Mister Rodgers Neighborhood, Captain Kangaroo, and of course Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. Watching these shows left an instant impression on me, and I knew from those moments on that puppetry would somehow play a major role in my life.

During those first years I started to develope a knack for putting on my own puppet shows, originally just for family members, later branching out to neighborhood children, then after acquiring higher-end and better-made puppets I began expanding my performance services to the local schools, hospitals and nursing homes. As the shows began to grow, so did my need for help, luckily I did not have to look far as I had younger siblings right there to help when I needed the extra hands for more puppets to appear in the show!

Performing for the live shows were a great foundation for audience interaction and to build my puppetry skills, however, my true obsession was the limitless options of puppets on video. To be able to use the TV as a monitor to watch my performance and see it just like the audience would see it. After many short puppet skits ad-libbing and lip synching to familiar songs, followed by some short featurettes, I compiled together a demo reel to send to Jim Henson Productions, and puppeteer Carroll Spinney. After several weeks with no response I finally heard back from Spinney himself who was impressed with my work and invited me to meet him and the rest of the Muppeteers on the set of Sesame Street in New York.

With several puppets in a duffle bag, I made my way over to the Sesame Street studio and met my soon to be mentor Big Bird himself. He was kind enough to give me a tour of the entire studio from the set, to the sound room, right down to other studios where feature films were being made. That day almost all of the Muppeteers were on set, and Carroll had introduced me as a future Muppeteer. From that point on I was determined to become a Muppeteer.

Soon after I was called in for an audition, and I began working on Sesame Street just a few weeks later. Still in High School this was a dream come true, and my work soon led to other Muppet projects throughout that decade.I will never forget those days as a performer with the Muppets, and I am happy to be able to do what I love each day now with such a strong background in performing alongside the best of the best. Those were very important years in my life that created a firm stepping stone to the wonderful world of puppet building that I now offer the world.

For the past 10 years I have dedicated each day to building for clients around the globe. From Puppeteers and Ventriloquists, to theatre groups and film projects, no client is too small or large to accommodate for. Each puppet I build is tweaked to perfection before leaving my hands, and I take great pride in every detail spent on each puppet I build. Read Less
