Remote Spanish Medical Interpreter providing impeccable, reliable interpreting services in areas including: hospital support for patients, business employment accommodations, training programs, seminars, employment evaluations, depositions and mediation, local, state and federal governmental agencies, prisons, and congressional support just to name a few.

Facilitate interviews in both English and Spanish with callers to the show. Write proposals for organizations and potential guests to appear on the show. Coordinate topics, set up on-site show, manage switchboard during interviews, and maintain communication with guests and co-hosts. Facilitate the interviews and promote using social media.

• Precisely and accurately interprets critical medical advice and information given by the provider into equivalent terminology to Spanish-speaking patients.
• Ensures the patient and the healthcare provider understands questions, answers, instructions, and other information transmitted by the speaker.
• Develops a relationship of trust and respect at all times with the patient by adopting a caring, attentive, but discreet and impartial attitude toward the patient, and his/her questions, concerns, and needs.
• Assists medical staff as a scribe when needed (Epic Training 2018)
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and clinical employees.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies and standards.
• Acts as liaison with local schools and community colleges to help students to develop their interpreting skills in a safe and respectful environment.

Language and Culture Classes (ESL Grammar I; ESL Conversations I and II; Workplace ESL): Implement a skills-integrated English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) curriculum for adult immigrants from a variety of educational and linguistic backgrounds which includes English grammar, writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Developed and taught customized contract training courses for non-native English speaking employees of a retirement community.

Motivate and promote collaborative interaction and inquiry between group participants in two exhibits: Courage at the Levine Museum of the New South and RACE: Are We So Different? at Discovery Place. Participants of different colleges, groups, associations and organizations in the Charlotte area, contribute in a group discussion after going through specific exhibits with a high content of either racial, cultural or social material. The facilitator’s job is to promote discussions by creating a sensitive, safe, respectful, open and honest atmosphere. By talking about topics that are usually left untouched, one expected outcome of this discussions is the awareness of other racial groups opinions and feelings by first learning each individual’s background and therefore diminishing the unfounded fear that exists between people of different cultures.

Applied intentionality to bring diversity and inclusion within the board of directors, Involved in restructuring the existing programs and applying for grants. Involved in the coordination (finding sponsors, planning the program, creating designs, procuring professional speakers) of events such as the membership meetings, Latin American Festival (10,000 plus), the auction at the Latin American Carnival (250 guests), Latin American Forum (110 attendees). Took part of the budgeting and strategic plan of the organization. Involved in membership retention and volunteer coordination.

One of the fastest-growing needs of the health community is for qualified and professionally trained interpreters. Interpreters must have a strong understanding and grasp of medical terminology and common words for those terms in both languages as well as cultural understanding of the Hispanic and American Culture.

The Interpreting Program offers a certificate of completion. To obtain the certificate, the student needs to complete 243 hours (five classes) with 80% or more and a 45-hour practicum in one of our partner healthcare facilities.

Eight-week, online ESL teacher training course for new and prospective Adult ESL instructors including foundations of English language learning and teaching. Specific modules focused on 1) core issues for the adult learner, 2) second language learning in adulthood, 3) approaches, methods, and techniques, 4) lesson planning, and 5) classroom observation and reflection.
