Artist, teacher, designer and calligrapher, was born in Rio de Janeiro State on September 1968.
Actually lives in the city of Rio de Janeiro and is a student of 
Design History at the Master’s course at ESDI/UERJ (Superior School of Industrial Design/ Rio de Janeiro State University).
His influences in calligraphy come from great masters like Claude Mediavilla, John Stevens, Rubens Matuck, Oswaldo Miran, Gabriel Meave, Sheila & Julian Waters, Raphael Boguslav, Leonid Pronenko and specially Master Hermann Zapf, who is considered by Cláudio the reason for the existence of calligraphy. February 2012 an article-portifolio about his work was published in ”Gráfica, International Art Magazine” by art director Oswaldo Miran. Most recently, October 2012, was published in the book Hand to Type, Scripts, Hand Lettering and Calligraphy, edited by Jan Middendorp by german publisher Gestalten.
Since 2004 travels through the Brazilian country promoting 
calligraphy and exploring its contemporary possibilities in workshops for beginners, students and professionals from different areas. Since then he has reached more than 2.000 people with his classes.
Cláudio is the only brazilian artist who has participated in the 4 editions of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy in the cities of Saint Petersbourg, Moscow and Velik Novgorod, Russia. Some of his masterpieces are part of the collection of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in Russia.Cláudio Gil has participated in many exhibitions throughout Brazil and uses them to spread the art of calligraphy. n 2007 he participated in the exhibition “Sketchbooks, Reservoirs of Ideas” which presented some of the artist’s sketchbooks in Espaço Cultural Furnas in Rio de Janeiro. Also in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro he participated in two solo exhibitions at the Gallery of the Centro Universitário da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro with the exhibitions “La Grafia 1 and 2”. In 2008, in São Paulo at Choque Cultural gallery Cláudio Gil participated in “The International Exhibition of Calligraphy”. Still in 2008 and following 2009 an individual exhibition called Kalligrápho et non Kalligrápho was presented in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Recife. In both occasions he demonstrated some of the extended possibilities of calligraphy using unusual instruments such as needles and brooms and painting more than 100 meters of roll paper and 80 meters of fabric.
