I am currently a Junior at the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Ga. I am working towards a B.F.A with a major in Photography and a minor in Graphic Design. Slowing building my aesthetic I want to create a personal bridge between "art" and "commercial" work, allowing myself to flow smoothly between each.
Working seriously in a creative manner since I was 16 years old, I have been flashed by photography. I am fascinated with the obviously cliche fact that we can freeze frame absolutely anything in the entire tangible universe. Only to further that fascination/obsession, is that it is considered art. Being something I never question, I always understood the beauty in a photography.
Bouncing around in a community full of creative beings all hoping to achieve some recognition, there is much pressure to create a personal aesthetic. In the 7 years I have worked in photography, I have taken a more urban approach. For some reason, I could never seem to get people to stop being in my photographs. Always smiling or looking beautiful as people do, I, somewhat, accidentally fell into a love for portraiture, yet with more of a journalistic vibe to it. Until quite recently I only worked in black and white film, loving the quality and process that it brings. It will always be my love, as with most photographers. I have been forced to embrace the digital world, and have progressively enjoyed learning the ability to manipulate and recreate with such ease.
Where as I think there is a definite style in my work, I am not prepared to narrow anything down just yet, and choose to consider any representation of my work as an exploration on the experimental road to a final creative outcome.
I hope to go on to work in the design and/or photography profession, in an atmosphere that will enable progressive growth and development in my work.
Ideally, I will became a household name, either through my photography studio (which will launch in it's own reality series), success as a photo journalist covering a newly discovered culture on a remote island, or the astoundingly creative portrait pieces that will be, of course, a universal "must have" for anyone who is anybody....all the while remaining the sweet down-to-earth girl I have always been.
Why not? (one can dream)
For now, I am eager to learn, grow, and find all the confidence possible within myself. Read Less
