Growing up with artist background gave me the privilege and ability to see the world differently than others. I was originally from Taiwan but moved to Shanghai China for eight years. Moving to a foreign country and adapt to things were difficult, I started to be more aware of the identities within the each of us, soon realize that is simply what we do in our daily life. Everybody has a social status, an identity, or even identities that emerge them within the society. Using that concept as my starting point and I reached even further to explore more on the concept. Masks, another important concept that I have been working on currently, masks are similar to an identity, everyone wears a mask in the modern world. We all have our true identity and emotions hiding under our faces, something like this just do not easily reveal to others.

In the 21st century where information and all kinds of technology around us can be a little much. Our brain capacity had to take in twice as much information as opposed to decades ago. With all this information around us can simply conceal whom we really are underneath. I thought that was very important for us as human beings and I started to view and incorporate this idea into my artistic practice. Most of my works are done in 3D renders using the programs such as Maya and Zbrush. I realize there were some limitations within the ordinary mediums of creating art, so I started my approach on the realm of 3D environments. By using those powerful tools that the programs provided, I was able to recreate the work as I initially visualize in my mind. Creating stills and render with high resolution is what I am interested in, I did some animation projects but I felt sometimes a fine quality of a still have the capability to overcome a series of moving images.

I am also a big fan of the psychological side of my artistic practice, since this is what most of my projects are about. Studying people’s emotion and interaction help me to develop my work differently, and approach the conceptual side in a deeper much manner. Read Less
