Each day I was able to jump in wherever needed, whether it was starting a project or assisting the staff designer. I assisted the only designer at the company by designing sign layouts, making digital mock-ups, vectorizing client logos, and printing, weeding, and applying vinyl signs to multiple substrates.

I fell in love with the idea of creation and using the technology as a tool to accomplish my designs. This degree especially emphasized the technology used to execute designs, and as such I am completely confident and efficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as QuarkXpress, Acrobat, and others.

Deepening my design education with my Bachelor’s degree, I put aside the design technologies and discovered concept-driven design, brainstorming and mind mapping. I learned that your first idea is not often your best idea and that in order to come up with the best idea, you need to first generate many. I’ve learned the minute details of typography that help to make designs beautiful, how to use my art in a design setting through illustration, how to present my work in a way that speaks to its strengths, and most importantly, how to take criticism and thus improve on my own designs.
