My name is Sean Carter and for the past 15 years I have mostly worked in advertising and related fields in a graphic design or creative capacity. Since 2012 I have been taking courses at CSUF at nights and online to finish my second degree in an effort to shift towards a more marketing-style position. I believe with my design background and the marketing degree I have the ability to see the creative and business side of what helps a company find its ROI. A quick background: I enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school and served as an infantry soldier in Korea and Texas. I have an Associates Degree from Mt. SAC and a Bachelor’s Degree from Westwood College in Visual Communications. I am only 3 classes away from my marketing degree at Cal State Fullerton.
I worked at a large format printer, Newport Signs and Graphics, to help me gain the experience and understanding of what happens when the work is sent to the vendors and then I got hired at Specialized Marketing Services as a graphic designer. Shortly after that opportunity I was given a better opportunity by 3v07, a client I had freelanced for before the SMS role. I worked with Jeff until we hit a slow period with no new clients. I then went to DGWB Advertising, now Amusement Park, where I was the lead for the Lehman Brothers account and did other graphic design and art direction work as well. When LB went BK the economy came down and I did what I could until the economy improved.
I later got a job at Quiksilver where my responsibility was all the DC shoe catalogs for the next 3 years until they shut down our whole department. I then formulated and implemented two curricula mentoring over 140 students in graphic design and animation at a local high school, Canyon High School. I was not accredited and this made it difficult for me to return, but luckily I found Mindshare Creative and I was back in advertising. I worked there for almost 3 years until they lost a client and had to lay off the last few hired, including me. So, in a nutshell that is my background. I have created logos and brand identities, print and web advertisements, websites, catalogs, business collateral, and many other graphic intensive necessities in the past decade, not to forget that I’ve done graphic design since high school where I was creating menus for local restaurants. I know the print process, I know the programs, and I have the experience and knowledge to help assist your company in it’s future success. I have done print and digital (web) design, I know Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. I have used other programs ranging from web to video, but I have not used them much over the past few years. I also have some experience in web, html, and CSS even though the bulk of my design work has been in print. Currently I am finishing up that degree, raising a beautiful 4 year old with my pregnant wife who is carrying our second (and last) child. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing what we can do for each other, and I wish you a wonderful day. Read Less
