An experienced educational administrator, Dr. Carolyn Koos served as chief administrator and principal of a public school in Ottawa, Illinois. While there, she accomplished several milestones, including the passage of a safety bond valued at nearly $1.5 million, curriculum enhancements in Math and ELA, special education interventions, RTI and a modified PBIS and the continued development of a full preschool program. The school district under her leadership was listed in the top ten percent for student achievement in the State of Illinois. Before accepting the aforementioned position, Dr. Koos held the role of principal at Costa Catholic Academy in Galesburg, Illinois, where she developed a full separate pre-school and early childhood programs. She was instrumental in integrating a Montessori program into the early childhood program. She worked with senior faith leaders in developing quality Catholic education, and carried out curriculum visioning and mapping process. She directed a strategic planning process for a superior Catholic education and for development.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Carolyn Koos enrolled at Drake University, from which she earned her master of science in education as well as an educational specialist masters degree. Later, she began her doctoral studies in education administration at the University of Iowa before transferring to Illinois State University, where she earned her Ph.D.

Outside of her academic responsibilities, Dr. Carolyn Koos enjoys spending quality time with her many children and grandchildren. For entertainment, she listens to music and follows New York City area sports teams. Committed to engaging with charitable causes, Ms. Koos contributes to nonprofits like the American Cancer Society, the United Way and formerly the St. Anthony’s Food Pantry. Read Less
