Carlos Sierra, political consultant, has proven himself to be integral in the political field because he works with candidates of all parties and spearheads reform-oriented campaigns across the country. Carlos has been known to cross party lines and has been an advisor to dozens of Republican, Democratic, Independent, and Libertarian campaigns across the United States.
Carlos Sierra first demonstrated his passion for the political consultant field as in intern for the John McCain for President campaign during the 2000 presidential election. In addition, Carlos worked in four of Senator McCain’s campaign offices to help with community outreach and constituent services, as well as various issues such as immigration, rural affairs, and natural resources. In the 2008 election cycle, he traveled to most major primary and caucus states on behalf of the McCain campaign. After helping McCain capture a victory in the primary, Carlos became the Southwest Coalitions Director for McCain-Palin 2008.
For the 2012 election cycle, Carlos Sierra became the youngest national campaign manager for the Buddy Roemer for President campaign. Carlos emulated Roemer’s ideals by creating a campaign that focused on reforming and ending corruption in politics by promoting and implementing policies that diminish special interests of the government and give more power to the average American.
In 2015, Carlos Sierra served as the national political consultant and field director for Draft Biden, a campaign meant to draft Vice President Joseph R. Biden to run for president in the 2016 election. Sierra oversaw political endorsements from elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels of government. In addition, he also oversaw field staff and volunteers in all 50 states and served as an advisor to the Executive Director.
Although Biden didn’t run for president in 2016, Carlos still remained active in the election cycle by becoming a part of history -- he served as the national political and field director for the Gary Johnson for President Campaign, which is the Libertarian Party’s most successful campaign in its history. Carlos oversaw ballot access in all 50 states and D.C., planned all political rallies and events for Governor Johnson and Governor Weld, oversaw all advocacy groups and coalitions, field and grassroots efforts, and the distribution of merchandise.
Carlos Sierra is now the President of Sierra Public Affairs and a partner in Renegade Public Affairs, the firms operate as full-service consulting firms which work with candidates and committees of all parties, as well as spearheading reform-oriented initiatives across the country. He is also the Co-Founder and President of The Reform Project, a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization focusing on campaign and political reform.
Carlos Sierra has served as the general political consultant and strategist to the victorious Oscar Leeser for Mayor Campaign in El Paso, Texas. Prior to that, as a national leader in the Hispanic community, Carlos was asked to be the Co-Chairman and Campaign Manager to the Committee to Defeat Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Carlos has also regularly contributed to CNN OutFront and POLITICO, in addition to his being featured in other publications and mediums where his knowledge, bluntness, and insight on national politics is frequently called upon.
Carlos Sierra is based out of El Paso, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona. He enjoys baking in his spare time. Read Less
