Born in southern Illinois on a farm, I moved to the suburbs of Chicago in 1969 where I took my first drawing lessons at the local park district. I soon was visiting art supply stores to buy quill pens, India ink and Bristol board to draw comics “like Charles Schulz.” Even though I created comics for my high school and college newspapers in the 1970s, I ended up in the video production industry. In 2007, at age 50, I decided to change careers from video producer to cartoonist. I immediately bought a tablet and Manga Studio EX. Those tools have been upgraded, but I have used only Manga Studio to produce my comics and illustrations. I attend several comic conventions each year taking in new commissions and illustrations projects. I produce the webcomic “1977 the Comic” about a struggling musician in the 1970s. I also co-founded the Webcomic Alliance, a group of webcomic artists whose goal is to help out beginning webcomic creators. Read Less
