I left high school with intentions of pursuing a career in film and television, but other paths led me to broaden my horizons through jobs in government, customer service and even the management training industry. I completed a Diploma in Screen in 2007 and my aim of becoming a film producer led me to seek a solid grounding in marketing theory by enrolling in QUT’s Business School. Eventually, after a taste of advertising, I decided that the life of a copywriter suited my broad interests and experience perfectly.

Instead of spending my days navel gazing in a dark bedroom, I have experienced many aspects of the world-at-large. Years spent as an administrator in high-stress government and private industry jobs have given me an appreciation for routine and deadlines while my time in customer service have developed my communication and interpersonal skills to a level of advanced maturity. While retaining my creative drive and focus, my marketing and advertising studies have instilled in me a love of research and consumer insight.

My personal relationship with modern-day advertising has taught me that the best way to deliver a message is by getting straight to the point. I find that the least successful campaigns today lose their creative potential in unnecessary complexity or poorly formulated strategy. To me, successful advertising means delivering messages in interesting, thoughtful ways that deeply resonate with target audiences. Read Less
