Bruce McKillip

Editorial Designer, Art Director

Glen Gardner, NJ, USA
I am a Senior Editorial Designer / Art Director specializing in heavily illustrated informational publications, particularly nonfiction/reference books on such topics as history, science/nature, the arts, and popular culture, and school textbooks and teaching materials. I have solid project management experience and am an expert in Adobe InDesign (including the K4 publishing system), and Photoshop, and have a working knowledge of Illustrator. (And recently completed a certification program in Web design through Rutgers University.) I have superior verbal communications skills and experience as a copy writer, editor, and proofreader. I am intellectually curious and knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects, and am most effective as a designer when I am able to bring my understanding of the subject matter to bear in ensuring that my design work serves the editorial content. Seeking to apply both my design and production skills and my communications and writing ability to contract assignments or a full-time position as a senior designer or art director for a publisher of illustrated nonfiction/reference books, or in communications publishing for an organization that is involved in advancing education, culture, or the arts, such as a charitable foundation, university, museum, or performing arts institution.
