I was born, raised and educated in Alaska. The son of a Bush pilot, I grew up visiting remote parts of the state, bringing in groceries and fuel oil. The challenges and conditions of rural Alaskan life sparked an interest in renewable energy systems and sustainable design. I believe that if creative solutions can be found to improve life in some of the harshest and most remote parts of the world, we can more easily apply them around the globe.

Currently, I am a Master's Student at the Ohio State University in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. I work in the Microsystems and Nanosystems Laboratory where I research solutions to problems in heat transfer, fluids and design as applied to alternative energy and microsystems. I will graduate in June of 2012 and plan to one day own a design firm which addresses sustainability in developing regions of the globe. Read Less
