Billy Boman

UX/UI Designer

Stockholm, Sweden
Hi, I'm Billy.

I'm currently a Product Designer @ Zettle by Paypal where I conceive and design user-centric experiences within the Payments Experience & Tap to Pay teams. There, I lead the design activities (UX/UI & Visual Design) with a strong product thinking both in hardware, native app as well as the Public Web.

To me, UX and Digital Product design is the all-encompassing process of creative problem-solving.

It’s the thoughtful, intentional application of design knowledge in order to craft functional & intuitive user experiences.

For me, the appeal of the UX field comes from a fundamental urge to understand human behaviour and psychology in order to craft user-centric and empathic experiences.

Design first struck a chord with me while discovering the Bauhaus movement when I got my Product Design Bachelors Degree at Beckmans College of Design.

Icons like Mies Van De Rohe, Marcel Breuer and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy made me realise that there’s an inherent truth to the axiom “Form follows function” which I personally swear by to this day when designing any user experience or interface.

How an application looks, is less important than the content and information you can engage with inside of it. A great interface, in my opinion, fades away after a while, as we stop noticing it and using it becomes natural to us.

Which is why good design should be unobtrusive, and why less is always more.

Nettoken

UX/UI Designer

The brief: Research user's behaviors & attitudes towards password management, cybersecurity & online account sharing. Synthesize & distill the research findings into a simple, secure and effective online account sharing flow & design feature, utilising native iOS mobile technology.

We relied heavily on user interviews and affinity mapping to understand the main pain points of the current application, as well as the main goals of the users. We also conducted a Design Studio workshop, involving our client in the design process and gathered a multitude of ideas & features.

The process consisted of multiple rounds of usability testing and iterations, which allowed us to craft a smooth and easy user flow that tested very well with users - stripping all unnecessary steps while thinking "flows, not screens".
Due to the ease of use, this would enable a higher retention rate as well as higher overall engagement with the product - Since we focused heavily on embracing, rather than replacing, existing user behavior.

The client was impressed by the results we achieved in just two weeks, and the design decisions that we chose to implement, affirmed by sturdy research insights.
