Forbes Marshall

Designer (Industrial and UI/UX)

As a designer, the work responsibilities ranged from New Product Development for a Steam product range and then also revamping the after-installation usage around it. Also, working on cross-functional projects ( with sales, marketing team) that involved improvising on the customer experience. Other projects included redesigning the enclosures for instrumentation systems and also, designing GUIs for internal customers as well as external to allow them to understand our products and their relevance to that particular industry better. Plus, designing websites for online learning solutions as the company also wanted to have a proactive equation with academia.

And on my own, I did take up ID Card revamp as well as revamping the R&D culture, right from the paint shades of the pillars to the few furniture pieces to perk up the space and yes, redesigning the entire ID arena and its arrangement, single-handedly. All as a first year fresher into the industry that I had no clue about! But only knew myself as a designer, inside out.

Thanks for reading.

Young India Challenge

Young India Delegate. Motivational Speaker.

As a designer, one needs to have a heightened sense of empathy. To push myself further, outside of the comfort of being in just community of designers, I reached to other passionate beings in this Mumbai chapter of Young India Challenge, who were passionate about other directions in their life (not necessarily design).
It was an eye opening experience as I was trying to understand how non-designers think of solutions (during few hackathons and on-the-spot challenges organised in the event) and how as a trained designer I can make a subtle difference.
Adding icing to this cake, was an opportunity given to me as I was chosen to be the Young Story speaker to motivate all around and inspire them with my side of life and how I fought for design to be my field, not engineering.

Globant

Design Researcher + Service Design (Online Food Delivery) + Product Eco-system Analysis + User Experience (UI/UX)

Being in Bangalore and getting to work on a project that involved around the booming Service economy (regarding online food services) in India and elsewhere was a great opportunity. Also, since the project involved working from the level of research and analysis till the end usage, product ecosystem and product thinking and designing, keeping in mind the views of key players in the market as well, it gave me design understanding at the real level, which was one of the most important learning. The end proposal was entirely relevant and came closer to what these days is the new word in professional circuit: the N-commerce (combining the positives of real retail and online presence, to give a path-breaking insight and innovation into food industry.)

Working on a concept conceived in the Mozilla Firefox workshop at UNBOX 2014, it was a challenge to convert the idea into real time product. It was exciting to be involved from the scratch and in building up the whole platform for this UX/UI related project, revolving around the concern of making online discussion platform effortless and effective for our professionals.
Developed an app called ConQ. On the design front, there were two of us and on the development three. So it was a team effort!
