Ben Whitesell is a senior designer and social media content strategist for UPS Airlines. Ben graduated from Hanover College in 2003 with a B.A in Art History. After discovering an interest in commercial art, he pursued a career in the field developing skills in several mediums including design, illustration, photography and video. In his 8 years with UPS Airlines, Ben transitioned from a traditional print designer to helping lead content development and strategy for the Airlines' newly formed social media team in the Strategic Communication department.

Responsible for building and managing online and social media projects and channels. Create and edit campaign content and ensure projects meet UPS compliance guidelines. Manage a variety of online and social media projects from start to finish.

Senior Designer

Planned, organized, and executed, both internal communications and social media strategy for UPS Airlines. Implemented strategy by designing content utilizing illustration, photography, video production, and motion graphics. Delivered this content through diverse platforms including traditional communication channels and external integrated marketing campaigns.

- Helped to develop and deploy the “brand voice” for UPS Airlines' social media content. Worked with the social media team to spearhead the creation of the brand’s flagship social media platform; Twitter handle @UPSLaunch. Generated key content including graphics, photos, and video that achieved 1400 followers in less than 4 months.

- Built the critical skills that allowed nearly all portrait and commercial photography to be brought in-house, personally saving $30,609 for several UPS business divisions.

- Developed a DLSR HD video workflow that accommodated cutting-edge creative results on a budget nearly half that of an external vendor, utilizing a 2 - 3 person production crew.

Design collectible print merchandise and sell this work in a personal e-commerce store. Coordinate all printing, shipping, and accounting for the enterprise.

- Developed a social media content marketing strategy that made the business profitable the first year in operation and currently holds a 2.65% conversion rate of orders to overall site visits.

- Designed page layout, user interface, and personal design blog that grew traffic to 500 hits a week.
