ABOUT THE MAGAZINE
Founded in 2011, Cityscapes Magazine is a bi-annual publication and platform for producing and sharing knowledge about the ongoing urban transition from the global South perspective. We engage the voices of urbanists (architects, geographers, activists, journalists, policymakers and artists) across the world to bring diversity and nuance into the conversation about the future of cities and what the transition means for the global South. Each issue brings stories of cities and the people working, thinking and fighting to make them more liveable and equitable to a diverse global audience that traverses several fields of academia and practice.

Our coverage has ranged from conversations & interviews with academics and policymakers such as the Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Lagos to reporting on the counterculture “Pixação”/urban graffiti of São Paulo and its social significance. We have featured commentary on the need to re-think informality; deep-dives on African migrants in Tel Aviv and Guangzhou as well as excellent photographic essays from new and established photographers from as far afield as Maputo, Cairo, Mexico City & Lima. We have covered nearly 100 cities across the South to surface otherwise unheard stories.
