I've loved colour, lettering, images and printed stuff for as long as I can remember - starting with the picture books I grew up with in the 80s.

I've been working in design since graduating in 2003 from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) in Design and Art Direction. My first job was in a pre-press studio. While not the most creative job, it gave me a solid grounding in design and print and an invaluable knowledge of litho, digital, large format printing. It also put a fire in my belly to ensure the work I put out as a designer makes a difference to people's lives.

After I left there, I had a few years in a commercial studio, and then I moved to Making Sense Design in 2009. We specialise in the NHS and healthcare sector as well as the social, education and public sectors with a strong focus that good design can make the world a better place - that ethos is key to my work.

I love making colourful, vibrant design with an important message. Environment, conservation and wildlife play a key role both in my life and in my designs. I am a keen bird watcher, flower planter, allotment grower, cook, photographer. I've always collected all sorts of printed ephemera, picking up inspiration wherever I go. I try to make sure I am constantly involved in a weekly art class of some kind - etching, mono printing, screen printing, pottery - which gives me the chance to break away from clean cut design and explore my artistic, more expressive side.
