I am a senior at RISD majoring in illustration. I’m particularly drawn to depicting costumes and scenes of social life from the 1920’s to the 1950’s. I strive for the viewer to be taken somewhere else, another time, another era, and another place. I want to create a sense of two-dimensionality within my work by flattening crowds of people into mere patterns of wallpaper. As a result, the figures turn into a series of two-dimensional and empty patterns, rather than individuals.
