Well versed in educational administration, Amy Kenton most recently served as assistant principal with Evergreen Charter School, in Hempstead, New York, where she aided in curriculum development, student supervision, and related tasks. In addition, to further her professional prospects, Amy Kenton obtained her Doctor of Education from Hofstra University in the summer of 2012; to secure her degree, she completed a dissertation on youth leadership development. Amy Kenton supplements her advanced coursework with a range of roles in educational environments.

Before joining Evergreen Charter School, Amy Kenton acted as district grants administrator for Copiague Union Free School District, in Copiague, New York. In this capacity, she identified funding opportunities and wrote comprehensive proposals on behalf of the District. Focusing her efforts on a number of areas, including professional development and technology, she secured grants from the Italian American Committee on Education, Lowes, New York State Health Department, and other groups.

Amy Kenton also previously fulfilled the duties of K-12 Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology with Baldwin Union Free School District, also in New York. There, her duties encompassed developing and implementing district-wide programs for technology enhancements, home schooling, and library and English-as-a-second-language services. She additionally served as assistant principal for Montauk Public School and directed assessment for East Hampton Union Free School District. Kenton spent 15 years teaching English and social studies, as well.

Apart from her EdD, Amy Kenton holds Master's degrees in Social Studies Education and School Administration and Supervision from C.W. Post College and an additional Master's degree in Liberal Studies from Columbia University. She began her postsecondary education at Cornell University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1986. She has won fellowships from Stony Brook University, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the New York Council for the Humanities. Read Less
