Amleya Clarke is photographer based in Barbados. Her work includes beauty and lifestyle portraits, events, commercial works and fine art photography. She also has a keen interest in creative direction, beauty retouching and brand development. Photography is her passion and she strives to bring her creativity, technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to create quality, timeless and stylish images as well as a fun and memorable experience for clients and collaborators.

Amleya considers herself a multidisplinary artist. She also has a background in fine art and dance, and more recently has been honing her skills and gaining experience in film-making, particularly in the areas of directing, cinematography, film editing and production management. In her spare time, Amleya enjoys dancing and performing, reading fashion magazines, watching movies and documentaries, hanging out with friends and giving back to the community. Read Less

Amleya learnt photography through self-directed learning and research, online workshops and by attending several short courses and workshops taught by local photographers including Joel Brooks, Carl Blenman (Studio Studio), Geddis Miller and Mark King. She has experience assisting local professional photographers and photography studios.

Amleya graduated from Queen's College Secondary school with 9 CXCs (7 Grade 1s and 2 Grades 2s) and 8 CAPE certificates (7 Grades 1s and 1 Grade 3) including Grades 1s in Art and Design on all levels. She went on to earn her LLB (law degree) from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus. Whilst at University she was very active in campus life and ascended to several leadership roles on executives of student organisations including the Photography Association of Cave Hill Campus (PHOTACC) where she served on the executive including the position of Assistant Treasurer, Vice President and President during her time at UWI. Amleya started gaining working experience as a lead photographer from 2009 via PHOTACC and worked on projects for several campus organisations and wider community events. Since graduating from university, Amleya has expanded her studies in business and filmaking. She is a graduate of the Barbados Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme Training programme, the Digital Media course of the Youth Mainstreaming Programme, and the Motion Picture Arts Certificate programme of the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination of the University of the West Indies. She is currently pursuing a CVQ in Camera Operations. She has worked on 4 short films and 2 short documentaries, specialising in roles of directing, cinematography, script-writing, production management and editing.

Currently Amleya works as a freelance photographer specializing in commercial, portrait, event and fashion and beauty photography. She owns her own business and occasionally works with other local photographers as a second shooter and photography assistant, such photographers include Andrew Browne Photography and Image Fusion Photography. Clients she has worked for include Scotiabank, Berger Paints, Animekon, Islandista magazine, and Ele Sha magazine. She has frequently collaborated with various small business enterprises such as Alphaeus Designs, Linda Belle Designs, Styled By Pierre, Blue Iron Media, Coconut Ocean Vibez and Honey Jam Barbados. Amleya is a member of the Barbados Photographic Society (BPS), the Barbados Film & Video Association and a mentor to PHOTACC, the Photography Association of Cave Hill Campus at the University of the West Indies.
