This is Al Kattan - Bachelor of Engineering in Architectural Engineering with Honours of the First Class from Heriot-Watt University; the School of Energy, Geo-Science, Infrastructure & Society, Department of Architectural Engineering. A student member of "CIBSE, London"​, a member and students representative of "The YEN CIBSE"​ in the UAE.

I have been working as a part-time graphic designer and free-lancer for more than 10 years. I am passionate about graphic design aside with my main stream; architectural engineering and architectural design.

The course I have undertaken knocked right on the idealistic boundaries between architectural design and building services engineering. The course aimed to demonstrate various aspects of sustainable building design and engineering, with distinctive emphasis on promoting, encouraging and reinforcing the environmentally-responsible engineering technologies; aspiring to greener built environments. Through the thorough in-depth investigations and assessments of passive design strategies impacts on the indoor environmental quality appraised against conventional active strategies; building services engineering for me is not an afterthought, but an integral process of the early architectural design stages.

I am well-prepared to immerse into the sketching pre-concept and concept architectural design stages, deal with space design, layouts and arrangements, analyze the outcome from energy and efficiency points of view, predict and simulate the human response to the transient indoor or outdoor conditions, and the physical aspects of the built environment; additionally to size the necessary building services - precisely or as a rule-of-thumb - of electrical load, lighting load, HVAC (duct-working, air-side and water-side components), and cold water or domestic hot water supply and storage; ensuring the most efficient orchestration and harmonization between the proposed architectural and building services designs in response to the outdoor environmental conditions.
