Alexander Esguerra (born 1982) began his career as a fine artist after serving in the United States Air Force. His distinct literal expressionist works are created first by environmental patterns and then through the tactile experiences of others. By removing himself from the physical realm of his work, Esguerra transforms his medium into distinct, abstract forms of color and shape. Eschewing contemporary art trends, Esguerra studied product design at Parsons School of Design in New York and developed his aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. His first solo show “It’s Just Sex,” was presented at Andy Warhol’s Wooster St. loft. He has since had nine international exhibitions. His latest work Love & Paint will be unveiled in conjunction with the Frieze art fair in London on October 2013. His work is included in numerous private collections around the world. Read Less
