In the early days of my career in various roles, starting Timeline Media was my way of working in an industry that I love. I decided to start my own business involving media conversion from superseded formats to DVD or digital video. This eventually developed into tasks involving graphic design, filming, and video production. By developing this brand from the ground up, I was also able to learn skills such as how to buy and set up a domain, organise web hosting, develop a web presence, and build social media profiles. It also meant I was able to develop my skills in building relationships with clients and other businesses for further work, collaboration and outsourcing opportunities.

BIM Drafting Services

3D Animator / Graphic Designer / 3D Environment Coordinator

In this multi faceted role, I was responsible for developing marketing content, creating internal branding material, and coordinating the delivery of 3D model data. This meant my day-to-day activities ranged from working within the Adobe Creative Suite to models in the Autodesk Building Design Suite. As well as preparing 3D model data for delivery, I was tasked to generate rendered 3D models for visualisation and marketing purposes.

In order to meet the ongoing requirements of the company, I was often left to autonomously seek out software solutions, and adapt them to our needs. This often involved learning how to edit system files, write HTML, modify internal software settings, seek out a video review solution, or write visual basic to automate tasks within a Microsoft Workflow sequence.

I assisted in the management of the operational systems, purchasing and maintenance of computer hardware and CAD software. I also assisted with system administration, managing user access roles, software deployment, document control, and the company intranet where required.

3D Animator

This was my first job at a steel detailing office, and initiated my path into what I would call “job role diversification”. My original vision of working with video and graphics was recognised by Steelplan, and I was contracted (through Timeline Media) and then subsequently employed to produce a promotional video. This developed into producing additional graphics and videos for internal use, as well as assisting with 3D drafting software and offering general office support.

From this, I gained experience in generating photorealistic 3D images and videos of projects using Autodesk 3D Studio Max software. This material was used for marketing and visualisation purposes in the company. I completed a 3DS Max Fundamentals course to enhance these skills.

I assisted in the management of the operational systems, purchasing and maintenance of computer hardware and CAD software. I also assisted with system administration, software deployment, document control, and the company intranet where required.

Visual Media Specialist

This was my first job at a company specialising in creative services, where I started out in the production room printing and packaging digital media. While working in this capacity, it was known to my employer that I had an interest and experience in working with video and video conversion.

One year after my employment, DiskBank expanded through the purchase of a company specialising in digital media conversion and transfer services. I was awarded with the task of single-handedly learning all required skills, and setting up a new office location. This growth continued, and within one year I was allocated 8 workstations, all processing video and audio transfers simultaneously. This involved working with formats such as VHS, betamax, reel to reel, 8mm and 16mm film, and vinyl.

Profile & Career Goals

I am an IT, Office Support and Creative Services specialist with over 7 years experience, coupled with a multitude of versatile skills transferable into any industry. I have a strong track record with creating a wide range of marketing material, as well as liaising directly with clients, applying internal business systems to serve specific requirements, and working with data from a large number of software packages. I am a good communicator and able to collaborate effectively with co-workers at all levels. I am confident in my ability to learn software very quickly, and fully explore its capabilities to ensure it is being used to fully benefit the business. I have had experience working with various scripting and automation tools, as well as the deployment of software such as Office 365 and Google Apps for Work across an office environment. I have worked in various roles, ranging from general IT support to document control.

Visual media of all kinds is my passion, and I am intrigued by the powerful messages that can be conveyed across a screen. I am self-motivated and enthusiastic, and I want to continually challenge myself to increase my skill set. I believe in keeping tabs on the latest software and updates, so that I can use it to my advantage to produce a high-quality end product. This is made easier by the fact that I am genuinely interested in the latest software and what it has to offer.
