Art has always meant, for me, an integrated means of expression in everyday life. The importance of this is constituted by the kinds of relationships I have with people, places, things, and ideas. I like to think of that space where relationships are built as an idea of potential autonomy, where the velocity of its experience drives the ideas it begets. Since my early adolescence, I've been involved with small subcultural movements based on both locality and the nature of its style of music (punk/hardcore). Simply enough, the greater involvement of its participants, from musicians to volunteers and fans, the more profound the experience. The art I make has been directly informed by this kind of participatory involvement within community-based relationships. I see each piece made as a catalyst for transgressing social perceptions, often those responsible for modern day oppressions and boredoms. In the end, the process becomes just as vital to the work as is the presentation. They are radical transformations of my own self and relationships, offered through an aesthetic means.
