Abram Rabinowitz

Graphic Designer

Chicago, IL, USA
My inspiration comes from a background saturated in the theatre and graffiti scene: I am well versed in laying out a clean, well-organized document, logo, or branding campaign, but I get there by combining a free-flow of highly-stylized ideas and compositions with an aptitude for finding inspiration in my routines. Examples might range from reading an article about the movie "Speed" that leads me to draw a comic strip, to simply admiring the leading in a paragraph … all while singing.

Work Experience

The Second City

Junior Graphic Designer

• Production edits under tight deadlines: Update multiple documents that include posters, playbills, flyers, postcards, and web sizes for all 3 locations (Chicago, Hollywood, and Toronto). Fast decision making is necessary in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign software, as well as navigating in and out of the server that we work from.
• Organization: High volume conditions make it necessary for files to be where you need them, and communication to be consistent and well thought out. Although we work in a well-organized DRF system (where client and designer communicate about the details of the project), we make sure that both parties are up to speed with the changing details of each project.
• Concept development: When production slows down, time is scheduled for concept development of new shows. The designers do not see the show content before concept development, so we develop ideas based on the title of the show and audience the show is being marketed to.
• Collaboration: Designers are assigned individual projects, but will often work together during concept development. Two designers may have similar ideas and skills that will require both designers to work together. Photoshoots will often require collaboration as well.
