Diversity of cultures is what interests me - how cultures can interact in one society despite all of their differences and how they overcome all of the complicated conflicts happening around them to unite in peace under the concept of humanity. Islamic Art has been the subject of my paintings since the beginning of my art practice. I focus particularly on modern Arabic calligraphy and Islamic patterns. Both elements are taken from Islamic Architecture and I combine them in my paintings using mixed media on Canvas. As an act towards bringing the East and the West to my work I present Western abstract art in my paintings, geometrical and colour-field abstraction.

The concept I am presenting in my work is derived from the need to show the world the true side of Islam as a culture and as a religion, and my goal is to reach a point where my work is presenting a multicultural art where two conflicted cultures could finally come together through art. What I am trying to achieve however is to pick a specific well-known, recognised style that has unique features and characteristics like Western abstract art and attempt to do an artistic collaboration alongside classic Islamic art. I am attempting to determine what I like to call “a melting point” between the two styles.
