Shawn Rossi

Creative Director | Senior Artist

Austin, TX, USA
My over all career objectives are to build upon my 20+ years in the creative industry as a multidisciplinary, hands-on, Creative Director + Senior Designer + Artist, who is very passionate about: art, design, and conveying a client’s message. Taking everyday as a new opportunity for self and team development. Leveraging my knowledge and experience to build, cultivate, and strengthen creative teams. Achieving this with professional experience in responsive web design (UI & UX), branding & identity creation, 3D animation, motion graphics, illustration (traditional, digital & photo manipulation), print design, packaging design, photography, and interactive.

It all began much earlier than 20 years ago. My first money made from my art came in the third grade. My classmate Derek, offered me $40 for my hand-crafted, Mother's Day present we created in art class. In turn, he gave me the one he created. My stomach turned as I gave my Mom Derek's wreck of an art project. It was short-lived as she smiled and said, "Thank you for the wonderful present!" Two things I learned with that Mother's Day project; colors could have pretty names like "lavender" and I could make money off of my art.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Houston and The School of Communication Arts, I began my career in the trenches of Graphic Design. I started out working on multiple weekly/daily newspapers and magazines. I learned the importance of working fast and efficient. My humble beginning was a launching pad for a career that spanned all disciplines of the Creative industry. I have held positions as: Media Specialist at Datacom Textron (The world's leading multi-industry Fortune 500 company), Senior Art Director at Aspyr (The leading Macintosh entertainment publisher) and Creative Director / Owner of Reaction Studios. My clients included: Dr Pepper, Ford, Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Denver’s Children’s Hospital, Sprocket Design+Build, Medtronic, Nicorette and Advertising/Marketing Firms.

When I am not behind the monitor with my Wacom Tablet in my lap, I am outdoors. I enjoy: snowboarding, cycling, running, camping, traveling and merry making. My motto is work hard and play harder.
