I'm a sequential artist, illustrator, colorist, graphic designer and really anything else I can find a way to apply my artistic skills to. I love drawing, coloring, inking, painting, storytelling and so much more. I thrive on the challenge of an ever varied range of art jobs and medias. Part of my goal is to bring the quality, and originality and passion of fine arts into the practical, marketable and accessible world of commercial art.

I currently live and work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and maintain strong ties to my hometown of Portland, Oregon. I studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia and was lucky enough to spend a term abroad in Hong Kong as part of my education. I have spent a few weeks in Germany and Mexico. My art has been immeasurably influenced by the wonderful opportunities I have had to experience international travel, but I also pursue as much local travel as possible. In my opinion, one of the most enriching experiences an artist (really anyone) can have is to see different walks of life and different environments. Sometimes they are drastically different and sometimes subtly. I try to make it a practice to notice the subtle differences that make each place unique.

One of the things I love most about art is the way it surrounds us all the time, even though people often overlook it. Great masterworks are wonderful things, but most of them hang in galleries or private collections where we are lucky to visit them once in a while. The art that really has the strongest impact on the most people is the art they are surrounded by every day. Everything from the logo on their coffee cup to the pattern on their curtains - that is the art that makes the world beautiful and unconsciously informs their sense of aesthetics. My greatest artistic goal is to be a part of that - to put my art into the world in a way that people will enjoy even if they do not always realize it is there.

One of the ways I like to pursue this goal is by making clip art, calendar patterns, and other art for educational purposes that can be found and purchased through Child Magic at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Child-Magic. Read Less
