Program Officer

Coordination of the 2017 ACT 4 Global Change Challenge, a competition for elementary schools from across the Atlantic region. The ACT 4 Global Change Challenge is a way to encourage students to be ACTive global citizens AND a way for teachers to complement curriculum with activities to help meet learning outcomes. Duties included outreach to schools and member organizations across NB, NL and PE (not NS because of teacher’s strike), support to teacher’s registered, website management (Squarespace) and social media communications (#act4globalchange), monitoring submissions using Jotform, report writing and coordination of winning schools presentation.

Other duties at ACIC were updating bi-weekly newsletter using Mailchimp, graphic design of posters/invites, support in coordination of International Youth Intern Program’s debriefing in Halifax, support in coordinating their public engagement presentation with DAL/SMU and support for outreach with the upcoming ACT 4 Global Change Youth Tour. This is a part-time/contract position.

Full-time employment with Transcontinental - Maritime Production Centre. Built ads for daily and weekly newspapers, as well as digital ads, across PEI, NS, Nfld., Sask. Worked extensively with Adobe Suite, QuarkXpress, Ad Trac, PBS and Ad Placer. Have also had the opportunity to design Canadian Tire flyers, NS Recreation Guides, and the 1st page of the Food Section for the Guardian newspaper (2014)

Development Communications Intern

Worked with this Malawian non-governmental organization (NGO) that specializes in producing programmes based on “edutainment” - education through entertainment.

Duties included:
• report writing (quarterly and annual reports) for the Rural Development Communications Campaign (RDCC, funded by the European Union)
• coordination of the RDCC policy and advocacy debates, which included working with the local media, networking with local and national government and NGO’s, and organizing a media competition to recognize thoughtful coverage in the media on our debate topics
• coordination of a radio debate for UNDP-funded National HIV Testing Week
•design work for various productions, including album covers, promotional posters and the organizational pamphlet
• researched and wrote the HIV/AIDS workplace policy
• coordination of an organizational seminar to create more cohesiveness in program planning
• researched, wrote and edited various proposals and briefing papers
• designed a power point presentation on the organization for presentations to various stakeholders
• evaluated media campaigns
