A committed philanthropist, Roy MacDowell has served as a trustee of such educational institutions as Babson College, the Rivers School, and the Meadowbrook School of Weston, each of which has named facilities in his honor. He is also a former trustee of the Charles River Museum of Industry and Children’s Hospital Boston. Further, in 2002, he purchased Deaconess-Waltham Hospital and in doing so saved the medical center from likely financial failure. At present, Roy MacDowell continues his commitment to philanthropy as an overseer of the Anti-Defamation League of New England.

Outside of his work in his community, Roy MacDowell serves as a principal with Baystone Development, which has earned recognition from the Boston Society of Architects and the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects, among other organizations, for its quality restorations and developments. As a principal, he maintains responsibility for guiding the overall strategic vision of the firm and evaluating all major decisions, including those related to project management. Roy MacDowell comes to this role with experience founding and leading The MacDowell Company for more than four decades, an award-winning landscape construction and design firm.

Engaged with his professional community, Roy MacDowell belongs to the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and the Urban Land Institute. In addition, he is a trustee of the National Association of Industrial & Office Properties. Read Less
