Michael Mundaca is a principal at Ernst and Young, LLP, in Washington, DC, where he is co-director of its National Tax Department and its Americas Tax Center. Michael Mundaca’s education background includes time at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he secured his JD, and the University of Chicago, where he earned his MA in philosophy, and Columbia University, where he earned his BA. In addition, Michael studied at the University of Miami School of Law, from which he earned his LLM in international tax.

Once finished with his education and after working as an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell, in New York, Michael Mundaca entered a period of public service by first becoming an attorney-advisor with the United States Treasury Department, where he drafted legislative proposals and regulations pertaining to a variety of tax issues. He would go on to serve the Treasury Department in such positions as deputy international tax counsel, deputy assistant treasury secretary for international tax affairs, and assistant treasury secretary for tax policy.

In recognition of his accomplishments, the Treasury Department honored Mr. Mundaca with the Alexander Hamilton Award, its highest award. Read Less
