I am originally from Bulgaria, with Georgian ancestry.
I was educated at the Saint Luca National College for Applied Arts (Sofia, Bulgaria), specializing in Textile Art. I then obtained a Bachelor and Masters Degree in the Bulgarian National Art Academy (Sofia, Bulgaria) with the same specialty.
After gaining my Masters degree in 2012, I applied for a PhD. in Textile Art and Design in the same institution. The theme of my dissertation is “The Role of Color in Textile Art. Authors (1960 - 2010)”, collaborating with scientific advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adelina Popnedeleva, a well- known contemporary artist and teacher in BNAA, who specializes in Textile Art and Design and leads the “Theoretical Problems of Textile Art” course. I am also an assistant in the painting classes of the renowned painter Prof. Vihrony Popnedelev in the same faculty.
I was recently awarded a Fulbright “Non-Degree Scholarship for Doctoral Students” award, and am participating in the program as a Visiting Researcher. I will have the opportunity to visit the University of Hawai’i at Hilo (HI, USA) from August 2015 to January 2016.
