Doug Clarke is a Plien Air and Studio painter based out of Virginia Beach. Working almost exclusively in oils, as well was on location, to create the majority of his paintings. Ever progressing visually, he has been profiled as one of the Seven Cities emerging underground artist. Currently his working on building a collection of work that captures vanishing landscapes from his hometown area of Southeastern Virginia.
Doug graduated Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy in Richmond, Virginia with Honors and Magna Cum Laude. As an active member of the Norfolk Drawing Group, Doug strives for excellence in his figure drawings and paintings. His past gallery exhibits include the Art Institute of Charlotte, NC, the Visual Arts Gallery of Portsmouth, VA, the Virginia Museum of Modern Art and the Charles H. Taylor Arts Gallery.

Recently, Doug was awarded 2nd place in the Historic Fort Monroe Plein Air Event as well as winning the Summit Award for Norfolk’s Plein Air Exhibition. In addition, being featured in the Scion Kalospectra Artist Exhibit in Richmond. His art is collected afar and abroad internationally. This year has been very busy with teaching plein air workshops, painting demos, and most promenently having nearly thirty pieces accepted in and represented by the Richard Stravitz Gallery.
