Kurt Marsh is a designer living in Brooklyn, NY with expertise in Architecture and Landscape Architecture, as well as Urban Design and Fabrication. Kurt received both a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and a Master of Landscape Architecture (M.L.A.) from the University of Virginia in December of 2012, where he was awarded the Faculty Award for Design Excellence. Kurt also has a background in Fine Arts Painting and Drawing, as well as English Literature and Creative Writing (B.A. Georgetown University ’05).

Kurt’s design work has focused on the intersection of Architecture and Landscape with a focus on the integration of structural and landscape systems through adaptive field strategies and an expanded understanding of the urban ecosystem. He has also explored material systems and fabrication, creating challenging installations using advanced modeling and a combination of digital and analog fabrication techniques. Kurt’s research and design has focused on urban hydrology and public space - more specifically the potential for radical stormwater management practices to generate intensified public landscapes where social and ecological activities produce
creative synergies.

Kurt co-taught several classes on representation, fabrication, and design, as well as helping to set up the University Design Center while at the UVA School of Architecture.
