It was 1978. I was 5 years old when I first saw "I Love NYC" logo, walking in Manhattan. I will never forget how the color and the shape were able to say more than a thousand words. It was "love at first sight". Over time, I learned that Milton Glaser was the "designer". It was in that moment that I knew the meaning of the word "DESIGN". From that moment on, I knew what I was going to dedicate the rest my life.

My career has allowed to better understand the importance of the Design to solve the world's biggest challenges. I can say that I have been privileged enough for being involved in design projects that, in some cases, were beyond my own expertise. But precisely because of that, I have grow not just professionally but as human being. Design is a key connector in our daily life. And it’s benefits are usually shown not just in the simplicity of great solutions, but in the long term. Design’s contribution is usually beyond math and logic.

Having lived in several countries, I have learn to listen carefully about what others say. My own process has made me aware of the importance of accepting cultures different than mine. Without planning it, I have understanded that this is key to understand consumers. People’s needs are not usually explicit. If we see it from the common perspective, they may seem contradictory. But from a proper perspective, everything starts to make sense.

In my experience, Branding and Retail is always an opportunity to start a conversation with the consumer. And that conversation has to be in his/her own language, touching those specific aspects that really matter to him/her. If a Brand has the ability to start and keep a conversation, it can open endless opportunities, not just from the business perspective but in terms of communication. Read Less
