Jeehye Jay Kim is from South Korea, she spend most of my life in South Korea till get her high school diploma. After that, she jumped into America, Chicago, for education at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She got BFA degree, which is focused on Fashion Design, in SAIC in 2014 May.

Kim's major is Fashion Design, but during her college-year she jumped around many different aspects of Arts. Such as Fiber making and photography. Rather than sticking into one specific genre, she wanted to consider her self as a core of art making then tried to filter as many as very different art genres through herself. Therefore, her esthetic of fashion is not focused on only wearable fashion design itself but more artistic form of fashion. However, Still she is trying to make a good balance between artistic form of fashion and wearable fashion by constructing of garments and fabric choices.

Kim is usually inspired from women’s perspective and esthetic. As she is a same woman and fashion designer, she is trying to understand other women’s perspectives by art making. She started this type of working style from understanding herself and now she is expanding this method to many different women’s aspects in the world, such as psychological reaction, social issues and any stories about women.

At this point, Kim's most recent collection is the mixture of women’s social issue in these days and psychological reaction. She was talking about ‘Stockholm syndrome’ in her recent collection and brought one specific reality story for story telling, which is kidnapping story in Cleveland. To make understandable collection, she pushed herself to create extreme hand-working based fabric manipulation, complex draping technique and asymmetrical construction.
