When I started drawing, I fell in love with the idea of being an artist: to be able to draw and create artwork with my head and from my heart. Throughout my education I have to learned new techniques and different styles of artwork; I have learned to keep an open mind to all styles of art, even those I dislike. I visit artist events, gallery and museum openings, and volunteer with various art projects as often as possible to observe new art and trends in art. My broad interest and knowledge has allowed me to work in different art disciplines on a wide variety of projects. I believe that creative art is creative art regardless of medium–whether it is fine art or graphic art/design, illustration or oil painting, in my eyes it is art. I do not let artificial boundaries define my personal experience of life and art. I believe that today, all artists need an extensive and wide knowledge of techniques, styles, and methods, making each of us a “renaissance artist” in the manner of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Van Gough, Cezanne, Picasso, O’Keefe, Pollack, J.C. Leyendecker, H. Pyle, Norman Rockwell, B. Potter and others.

Artist Statement

I view life from a different perspective than others. I always find the humor in everything. I work in a variety of media and methods in order to explore my ideas and translate my concepts. My perspective is skewed, and I work to create interesting experiences through humorous and important social commentary that sometimes raises an eyebrow with the intent of contemplative thought. I invite opposing interpretations and points of view in order to create an interesting dialog between the work and the viewer and their own conclusions.
